Hey everyone!
I’m just starting to wrap my head around this whole 401k thing and had a few questions. I’ve recently started my first full-time job and they offer a 401k plan. I get that it’s a retirement savings account, but I’m trying to understand how to really make the most of it.
Employer Match: My employer matches contributions up to a certain percentage. How exactly does this work? Is it worth contributing beyond that match limit or should I focus my extra savings elsewhere?
Investment Options: How should I go about choosing which funds to invest in within the 401k? Is it smart to be aggressive when I’m young, or should I be more conservative? The variety of options is a bit overwhelming.
Fees: Are there hidden fees that I should be aware of in my 401k plan? How do I find out what they are and assess if they’re reasonable?
Roth vs. Traditional: How do I decide whether to contribute to a Roth 401k vs. a traditional one? Is one better for someone just starting out?
Any insights, tips, or resources you guys can share would be incredibly helpful! Thanks a bunch!
