I’ve been involved in personal finance discussions for quite a while now, but there’s something that doesn’t seem to get the scrutiny it deserves - the topic of intuition-based stock investments. Everyone seems to focus on traditional financial analysis, technical indicators, or insider news, but hardly anyone discusses or validates gut feelings in stock trading.
Is it possible that our instincts can play a crucial and overlooked role in investment decisions? Experienced traders sometimes mention ‘having a good feeling’ about a stock’s movement, but it’s often dismissed as anecdotal or luck.
Could there be a scientifically-backed reason why some people’s intuition might be more accurate? Is it possible that years of exposure and subtle cues can form a type of ‘expert intuition’? And could this be a skill one can hone?
I’d like to open this up for discussion. Do we have any data or studies on this, or is it purely speculative? How do you personally reconcile intuition with traditional analysis in your investment strategies? Let’s think outside the conventional methods here and critically explore the potential role of intuition in stock picking.
